Brawl at eatery: Victims allege cops delaying arrest, CP marks probe on Bindras complaint : The Tribune India

A day after a brawl occurred at Baklavi restaurant in South City here in which around 10 persons had suffered injuries, the victims led by Anirudh Garg, today addressed a press meet and alleged that despite the registration of an attempt-to-murder case, the Ludhiana police have failed to arrest the accused.

Pertinently, the accused in the case, MTP Bindra and others, have also submitted a complaint to the Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, on Sunday and alleged that they had also suffered injuries as Anirudh and others attacked them. On this, the CP marked inquiry to the ADCP-3, who will verify allegations leveled by MTP Bindra and others.

Notably, the police had registered a case against Bathinda MTP SS Bindra, his sons Puneet and Gurkirat and managers Ajay and Pawan on Saturday.

The complainant, Garg, said: “Guests had to run for their lives when Gurkirat took out his gun and pointed at me with an intention to kill.”

The guests were locked in the building and had to hide themselves for their safety.

“The Bindras are trying to get a cross FIR registered by self-inflicted wounds on one of the staff of the restaurant. They are also making threat calls. We humbly ask our Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav to look into the matter and help us,” Anirudh said.

Garg said Karan Goel, who is a former international cricketer, got severely injured with a skull fracture. Left arm of Sanjiv Mongia, a renowned cycle parts businessman, was broken into three parts. He got operated at the DMCH. Rajnish Garg (62), a chartered accountant, was beaten badly.

His neck was also severely hurt after continuous strike with iron rods.

The complainant said why the CCTV camera footage of the brawl was not shared with the media and the public by the police so far.

Meanwhile, staff of the restaurant also posted a video on social media in which they alleged that Anirudh, Karan and others were badly drunk. They first attacked the staff and the owners as they did not want to foot the entire bill of their party.
