Anthony Gordon has ‘top talent’ as criticism of 60million valuation for Chelsea target labeled ‘unfair’

Tony Cascarino has suggested Everton star Anthony Gordon is worth 60million with Chelsea set to move for the winger.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old and could launch an offensive ahead of Thursdays transfer deadline.

Gordon fired Everton ahead at Brentford on Saturday amid links to Chelsea

Gordon has been the bright spark in a dismal 2022 so far for the Toffees and it could get worse for Frank Lampard’s side with Gordon keen on a switch to west London.

The Everton academy graduate coolly tucked away his goal to open the scoring in their 1-1 draw at Brentford on Saturday.

Despite his solid start to the campaign, the jury is out for many on his hefty valuation, with Simon Jordan urging Everton to take the 60m that’s said to be on the table and run.

But Cascarino believes the mooted price is a fair one.

I think its a bit unfair of everyone saying hes not worth this and hes not worth that. I think Chelsea have seen a very special talent and have decided to go after him,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.

Evertonians wont like it because they recognize hes a really good player and they want to keep one of their own because fan bases dont like losing their own. Hes a terrific footballer.

People will say its 60m for a potential player but potential is reaching the highest value now. Origin [players] in some ways are not as good as potential [players] now but I think Anthony Gordon has already proved himself as a really top talent.

Gordon has made 64 appearances for Everton, scoring five goals and adding eight assists but his form has taken an upturn in recent months as he helped the Toffees avoid relegation last season and has so far been a standout performer this term.

Former Chelsea striker Cascarino believes Gordon possesses many facets to his game and gave his backing to Chelseas pursuit of the starlet.

His pace is quite clear, he can run direct, he’s got a great turn of foot and hell go past people,” Cascarino added.

Hes fearless, tenacious and hes got a lot of great things in his game.”
