Pierre Gasly says Daniel Ricciardo and McLaren should face cheating allegations

[ad_1]

Following the Italian Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly has joked that Daniel Ricciardo and McLaren should face ‘cheating’ allegations, as his team were at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Supposed fans sent vile abusive messages to Yuki Tsunoda, AlphaTauri and Red Bull strategist Hannah Schmitz, after some believed that Tsunoda was told to retire on purpose to benefit Max Verstappen.

Schmitz arguably faced the worst of the unacceptable disgusting behavior, after being seen smiling whilst Verstappen led the race.

Gasly has joked if Ricciardo will face similar abuse for retiring at the end of the Italian GP, which saw Verstappen win the race behind the Safety Car.

I could say the same thing about Daniel doing the same today, he joked to Sky Sports F1, after being asked if Red Bull have any say over AlphaTauri’s decisions.

I dont know if thats going to be all over the internet again.

The Frenchman had a good race at Monza, where he finished eighth.

The AlphaTauri driver could’ve potentially challenged the top six but was stuck behind Ricciardo from the first lap right up to the point where Ricciardo retired on Lap 47/53.

The French driver simply couldn’t find a way past, with McLaren having fairly strong straight-line speed.

Gasly revealed to F1.com that he’ll have “nightmares” of the Aussie’s rear wing, after being stuck behind it for so long.

Ill definitely have nightmares of Daniels rear wing over the next couple of days because I spent I dont know how many laps behind him, but it felt like a lifetime, said Gasly.

I tried everything, but he didnt do one single mistake.

Gasly has been heavily rumored with a move to Alpine for next season, despite having signed a deal with AlphaTauri to race for them in 2023.

Gasly, of course, claimed his first F1 victory at the 2020 Italian GP with the Faenza-based team, something the French driver will never forget.

Sky Sports F1 tried to get Gasly to spill the beans on where he will be next season, but the 26-year-old wouldn’t go any further than saying the situation is out of his “control”.

I will say at the moment its out of my control and Im trying to give my best to this team, he said.

We know the situation, I think Helmut [Marko] has been pretty clear.

These guys [AlphaTauri] have given me my first win in F1 and given me my first chance in Formula 1. It doesnt mean I got to stay there all my life because my ambitions in Formula 1 are to fight at the front end. Thats what I want.

Ive been five years with AlphaTauri. Well see if I do another year there but at the moment, thats whats planned. If this is happening, Ill give my 110% for this thing. But at the moment, I dont have more to comment on my situation.
