Amazon drivers life threatened after entering racist neighborhood in Lacey

LACEY – A 62-year-old township man was charged with bias intimidation and making terroristic threats after he blocked an Amazon delivery truck that had entered a cul-de-sac and threatened to shoot the driver in the head upon declaring the neighborhood to be racist, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

The suspect, John Vincentini, surrendered to the Lacey Police Department after the Labor Day incident and was released on a summons. He soon will soon be compelled to appear in state Superior Court in Toms River to answer for the charges, Billhimer said.

As the Amazon driver was making deliveries on Sept. 5, Vincentini followed the truck into the cul-de-sac and parked his car in such a way so as to block the Amazon delivery trucks path, Billhimer said.

Vincentini proceeded to confront the driver, questioned why the driver was in his neighborhood, and further inquired as to whether the driver understood that he was a racist neighborhood, the Prosecutors Office said in a statement. Vincentini then asked the driver whether he wanted him to go back to his car, get his rifle, and shoot the driver in the head. The Amazon driver then drove away and contacted the Lacey Township Police Department.

The identity of the driver nor the location of the cul-de-sac in Lacey were made public Thursday.

It is against the law to intimidate someone based upon their race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, national origin, disability, or gender identity/expression, Billhimer said in a statement. Individuals that employ hatred, intolerance, and prejudice with a purpose to intimidate will be investigated and if warranted prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The Bias Crime Unit of the Prosecutors Office and Lacey Police Detective Bureau investigated the incident.
