NFL running back Alvin Kamara took to Instagram after receiving a DM from a Hokes Bluff student that contained a racial slur. While some praised Alvins actions, others thought it was a little harsh.

Alvin Kamara and the New Orleans Saints win against the Seahawks on Sunday should have been the big talking point but one fans DM thread is threatening to hog the spotlight.

Hokes Bluff student DMs Alvin Kamara

The Saints win against the Seahawks meant fans took to their favorite players socials to congratulate them. Most shared the love presuming their message would probably never be read, let alone receive a reply. However, one student from Hokes Bluff High school took his message too far, and is now paying the price.

The high schooler sent the message good game but followed it with a racial slur. Nine hours later, Kamara replied: If I snapshot this and send it to your head coach at Hokes, what happens?

The student immediately backtracked by telling Kamara: I didnt think you actually saw these. He then told the player: Im a huge fan. I love watching you play I have liked you since you went to Bama.

However, Kamara wanted to know why the student had used the racial slur. After saying he didnt care how much of a fan the student was, he asked: Do you use that word at school? The fan replied: Nah, its not even in my vocabulary, despite clearly having used the slur in his original post.

Kamara then suggests his school needs to know what he was saying before the student apologises again. However, he then jokes: After careful consideration, you have earned a roster spot on my team, congratulations son.

That was the last straw for Kamara who posted the DMs on his Instagram stories, tagging the student, Hokes Bluff High School and its student government. Yikes.

Kamara captioned his story when social media goes wrong, which many thought was a deserved reaction to receiving the racial slur.

One person tweeted: Alvin Kamara is a legend for this.

Others thought the reaction elevated him to the greatest of all time. Someone wrote: Alvin Kamara is the GOAT.

However, some thought posting the DMs to his 1.1 million followers was a little cruel. Despite having used the racial slur, fans wanted to remind Kamara the DM was from a high-school student.

One critic tweeted: Great job to Alvin Kamara for ruining a high-schoolers life.

Another added the students academic prospects would definitely be affected by his public shaming:

Accountability, no matter the age

Another argument from fans was that consequences need to be faced regardless of how old the student is. They said the student had made a bad choice and had to learn from it.

After Kamara posted the DMs, the student asked whether the Saints player could delete the story as he was being harassed. Kamara replied no and left the stories up for the 24-hour duration.

Since then, the student has privatized his Instagram account and removed his profile picture.
