Married at First Sight UK spoilers follow.
Married at First Sight UK expert Charlene Douglas has responded to criticism about the E4 show’s success rate.
During Monday night’s (October 17) reunion episode, it was confirmed that Jonathan and Sophie Brown had decided to end their relationship. However, they aren’t the only couple who have decided to call it quits.
Chanita Stephenson and Jordan Emmett-Connelly also recently split up, as have Whitney Hughes and Matt Murray, who were controversially allowed to return to the show as a couple after their original matches both failed.

As a result, some viewers have questioned the legitimacy of the show – considering it is, after all, about finding long-lasting love and settling down.
Speaking to Metro, Charlene said that she doesn’t define success by how many of the couples have remained together. Instead, she said success should be determined by what the participants have learned about themselves.
“For me, success isn’t that they’re together in a relationship,” she said. “We know that there are people in relationships and although they have the status of being in a relationship, they are not happy and they are not the best versions of themselves.
“For me, success is also that they’ve learned a lot about themselves, for example, Whitney has expressed that she’s a lot more vulnerable and has found her voice.

“I think the feedback so many of them got, they would have never got anywhere else.”
Charlene added that by giving the couples the tools to have a successful relationship in the future, it means that the experts have done their job correctly.
She continued: “Jonathan [Wileman]bless him, very innocently said things and didn’t properly think about it.
“With feedback, the hope is that he can go away and think about it and be a bit more sensitive in future relationships. Just so he knows what he needs to do.”
Married at First Sight UK airs on E4 in the UK. Married at First Sight Australia airs on Nine Network in Australia and E4 in the UK.
