New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has caught a lot of heat from fans after yet another announcement that he’ll miss time due to injury.
Thomas was placed on injured reserve Thursday due to a toe injury he suffered in Week Three. Saints head coach Dennis Allen announced that he will likely miss the rest of the season as a result, prompting fans to call oft-injured Thomas Soft.
But Thomas’ most high-profile teammate has his back.
According to Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Advocate, Saints running back Alvin Kamara said it “irks my soul” to hear people criticizing Thomas for being injured.
“Alvin Kamara is coming to Michael Thomas’ defense after seeing people criticize Thomas for his recent injury history,” Johnson tweeted. “‘For people to be talking s—, it irks my soul to see that.’”
It’s true that Thomas has been too injured to play far more often than he’s been able to take the field over the past three seasons.
Thomas missed nine games due to injury in 2020 and sat out all of last season as he was recovering from ankle surgery. It appears he will miss 14 of the Saints’ 17 games this season, as well.
But Kamara doesn’t want to hear outsiders criticizing Thomas for something he can’t control.
Props to Kamara for standing up for his teammate of six years.
