Washington Post Complains ‘Shark Week’ Is Racist In Favor Of White Men – OutKick

The media industry reserves hard-hitting reporting for the Washington Post.

This week, the Post flexed its investigative muscles with an exposition on Discovery Channels’ “Shark Week” programming. The outlet discovered there are too many white men judging the sharks to his liking.

According to the ‘report’, there are an ‘overwhelming’ number of white guys tasked with being ‘shark experts’. The piece also denounces the fact that these white men use their privilege to peddle “negative messages” about sea creatures.

As Don Jr. tweets, such a significant discovery calls on white men of all statuses to apologize for engaging in racism against sharks.

Maybe even minority sharks.

The report highlights an Allegheny College study by biology professor Lisa Whitenack. The project revealed the following secrets about Shark Week:

“Discoveries programming emphasized negative messages about sharks, lacked useful messages about shark conservation, and overwhelmingly featured white men as experts, including several with the same name.”

The above revelation comes as the Post learned that Discovery had featured several white commentators named “Mike” to comment on the sharks.

Seeing too many white Mikes taking on leadership roles in one field would also make us cringe, even shiver.

Arizona State University conservationist David Shiffman believes the “problems” stem from systemic racism on the part of Discovery, CNN’s new parent company.

“When there are hundreds of interested people of color working in this field, [and] when my field is more than half female, maybe it’s no longer an accident if it’s all white males,” Shiffman says.

We want to express that there is no indication that this report in The Washington Post was intended for comedic purposes.

And that’s a shame because the article reads like the best of Babylon Bee’s vast portfolio.

Perhaps articles like these explain the decline of satire. Between the corporate press and Washington politics, real life is more humorous than any form of content intended to make people laugh.

There has never been more fodder for satire.

The satire of American culture. Our president speaks to the dead. Kamala fights racism with racist “fairness”. The word “woman” is disputed.

Yet comedic brands have never been so afraid to joke around.

Few recent articles are as self-proclaimed as the one that alleges the shark industry is inherently racist, in favor of privileged white men.

The hell with the border, rampant crime, inflation and White House instability – white men judge sharks unfairly here in America.

Democracy dies in silence.
