Russia rejects allegations of Iranian arms shipments

TEHRAN – Vasily Alekseyevich Nebenzya, Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, said on Friday that the Russian Federation’s industrial and military complex is capable of achieving its goals without the need for outside help.

According to the Tass news agency, the envoy told the UN Security Council that the allegations of arms imports from Iran are unqualifiedly baseless.

They are trying to distract the public from false allegations about Iran moving weapons to Russia, but we have repeatedly denied these allegations, Nebenzya said, adding that Moscow would not be affected by d former Western allies.

John Kirby, spokesman for the White House National Security Council, said Friday that Iran has become Russia’s main military backer. Kirby added: “Russia is using Iranian drones to strike energy infrastructure, depriving millions of Ukrainians of electricity, heat and essential services. »

Iran said it sold drones to Russia before the war on Ukraine and they were not intended for use against Ukraine. Iran has also asked Ukraine to provide evidence that its drones were used during the war.

Contrary to accusations against Iran, the West has been shipping weapons to Ukraine since the war began on February 24, a move that Iran says has exacerbated the situation.

For example, the United States has provided Ukraine with $19.1 billion in military and security assistance since the conflict began. In addition, the Bulgarian parliament on Friday approved the supply of a military package to Ukraine.

The West has also imposed several sanctions on Russia and blocked its assets.

European sanctions against Russia’s oil exports have caused a severe shortage of gasoline and rising inflation in the European bloc.
