The University of Missouri has been called to task after screenshots of an inflammatory and racist remark by students about the black death began circulating online on Saturday (December 10).
The Kansas City Defender, a nonprofit digital startup, broke the story Thursday, Dec. 8, reporting that students had requested the expulsion of a classmate identified as Meg Miller. The controversy unfolded when Miller allegedly took a picture of herself smiling with the caption: “If they had killed [four] no more niggers, we would have had the whole week off.
The racially insensitive remarks come weeks after three black footballers were fatally injured at the University of Virginia. Miller’s social media presence reportedly turned dark after she became a trending topic. According to screenshots from her Instagram account, however, she identified herself as “shamelessly conservative,” “Second Amendment believer,” and “pro-life advocate.”
Other screenshots of her social media posts showed her smiling as she posed with a dead deer and made cheese alongside Kyle Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse was acquitted of all charges last year after she shot and killed two men and injured a third during the civil and political unrest that erupted in Kenosha, Wisconsin in the summer of 2020. In her post with the young 19, she wrote, “As someone passionate about the Second Amendment, I’ve peaked right now #fangirlmoment #gunrightsarewomenrights.”
The defender has spoken to several black students who say the university has been slow to respond to their complaints. In response, researchers took to social media. “We could tell it wasn’t taken as seriously as it should be,” said University of Missouri student Kaylyn Walker.
School President Mun Choi released the following statement: “University of Missouri officials have been alerted to reports of a racist message from an MU student. The information was forwarded to MU’s Office of Institutional Equity. This language is reprehensible and we condemn all racist, discriminatory and hateful language and action towards our community. Following the review, the university will take appropriate action.

Black Lives Matter when we are already dead and people are ready to go viral with death video clips and maybe protest/march on it! By the way, nothing was done to Meg Miller, president of Turning Point USA at her university. #BlackTwitter #BLM https://t.co/TZIwRyd6tm

I just came across this horrible story this morning. Veiled threats to kill black students are beyond reprehensible. Yes, freedom of expression. But also, responsibility and consequences. @Mizzou needs to step up and hold #megmiller accountable and lead by example. https://t.co/RNckMFPukN

Just quote the retweet in the hope that Meg Miller / Megan Miller / Megan Claire Miller, who studied agriculture and animal science at Mizzou – the University of Missouri, will see her racist background come up in searches when she applies to jobs. https://t.co/3YtwPaREZr

There is only one question to ask: does Meg Miller represent the ideals of Mizzou? If she is not expelled, then the answer is yes.

Univ. from Missouri is constantly in the news because of the racism on that campus. I don’t know why black students go there because clearly the administration doesn’t care.
