A Meta product manager who went viral for posting a ‘day in the life’ video on TikTok and survived Mark Zuckerberg’s mass layoffs has come under fire on social media.

Riley Rojas, 23, posted the video to TikTok in October, weeks before Meta laid off 11,000 employees. He showed his diary and a to-do list, which included “work”, “training” and “vibe”.

In the video, Rojas is shown working out before having breakfast and coffee at a Meta office. She is then seen working on the roof before going to lunch and returning home by shuttle. According to his LinkedIn profile, Rojas has been a product manager at Meta since January 2021.

The Gen-Z tech has since deleted the TikTok video, but it got over 3.4 million views after it was posted by another user on Twitter.

One user said: “The fact that a $META product manager posts this on TikTok and isn’t immediately fired is a testament to the bloated carcass culture of Silicon Valley companies. All of these tech companies are laden with employees useless. Dead weight.”

Meta laid off 13% of its workforce on Nov. 9 after Zuckerberg admitted he had overinvested in the company.

On the day of the massive cuts at Meta, one Twitter user said, “RIP every ‘day of life’ Meta product manager on tiktok that runs 10 hours a week, we’re pouring you a virtual bottle guys in the metaverse. ”

Another person commenting on the video said, “A quick glance at Tiktok and you see videos of ‘the day in the life of a Meta Product Manager’ who basically attends 1 meeting and drinks coffee the whole day. day while doing 0 work was a very clear sign as to how bloated these companies have become.”

In a post on LinkedIn this week, which has now been deleted, Rojas said, “I love romanticizing the everyday that is my life, being a woman in tech, and being a recent fresh grad trying to figure it all out. From the creators of content like me have the greatest power to influence how young people view corporate life and work in these popular industries.”

Rojas did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider.
