Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger released the latest episode of his podcast series, Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger, on Monday. He and his co-host, Spencer Teodi discussed several topics as the duo do each week. It was rivalry week with Pittsburgh hosting the Baltimore Ravens and sadly taking the loss, 16-14 in a nail biter. Rookie flagman Kenny Pickette left with a concussion and veteran Mitch Trubisky ended up throwing three interceptions, all of which happened in enemy territory.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin indirectly calls out Mitch Trubisky’s turnovers after Week 14 loss to Ravens
Discussing Trubisky’s rough stat output, the new retiree said he has no problem with aggression. He even compared first-year wide receiver George Pickens’ outburst on the sidelines when the team faced the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13 to the unfortunate errors of the team’s current quarterback.
It’s hard. You must be smart. I will use this example. Last week George Pickens was having trouble on the sidelines and they asked coach T[omlin] on this subject. Coach T. said you know what, I’m okay with that. I’d rather say woah than sic em. Mikes has been saying this for a long time, basically saying, I’d rather a guy be aggressive and have to tell him woah than a guy be non-aggressive and say hey, go get ’em.

Roethlisberger went on to focus on his former coach, Mike Tomlin, and why he shouldn’t have had a problem with Trubisky’s aggressive nature on Sunday, especially if Pickens’ antics had been accepted a week ago.
If he’s okay with George freaking out and asking questions in the locker room, he has to be okay with Mitch being aggressive because you’d rather woah em than sic em. It’s the same kind of thing. If Mitch is aggressive and tries to take shots and try to score touchdowns and do what he can to win the game. Mitchs goes over there saying I was benched earlier in the year. I’m going to throw that ball and do what I can to help win this game.
Although the former Super Bowl champion complimented Trubisky, he still acknowledged that turnovers were extremely costly.
Obviously, it was a tough day for Mitch. I think he did well in the sense that he finished a few balls, took a few shots downfield. He moved the team. The team has moved. But, when you’re in Baltimore territory and you have three interceptions and a blocked field goal, the odds of winning this game are so slim.

Instead of the three turnovers, Roethlisberger had to support his fellow quarterback and help everyone understand that the first interception was more down to Steven Sims’ mistake and not Trubiskys.
The first interception wasn’t Mitch’s fault. He was going to Muth at the back and it looked like the receiver up front had gone down or didn’t clear so the spacing was off and so it was actually the other defender who was able to do this game.
Do you think Roethlisberger protecting Trubisky and comparing his situation to Pickens makes sense? Let us know in the comments below!
