Thiruvananthapuram:

Malayalam superstar Mammootty has been in trouble over his recent remark about young director Jude Anthany Joseph as a number of netizens slammed him saying his words were nothing but shame bodily.

As the case sparked debate on social media, the Amaram actor issued a note of regret on his Facebook page and assured that he would not repeat such comments again.

Joseph himself dismissed online criticism of the superstar, saying his words were twisted.

During the recent teaser trailer for Joseph’s upcoming movie titled 2018, Mammootty said that Jude Anthany Joseph may not have a lot of hair on his head, but he is a smart man.

The veteran actor actually intended to appreciate the work of filmmaker Om Shanthi Oshana and his new film, but the remarks didn’t sit well with a portion of social media users.

Mammootty, in a Facebook post Wednesday, said he regretted annoying some people with the words he used out of excitement while praising Joseph at the event.

The veteran actor said that in addition to expressing his regret, he also assured that he would be careful not to repeat such remarks in the future.

Jude Anthany Joseph also posted a message on Facebook supporting Mammootty and asking people not to criticize him and accuse him of body shaming.

“Neither me nor my family are worried or sad that I don’t have a lot of hair on my head,” he said in the FB post.

The young director also said that if people are really worried about his hair loss, they should raise their voice against Bengaluru Corporation shampoo and water companies for the same.
