STUART VARNEY (HOST): Do you think the opening of the border is deliberate? A deliberate reception of millions of people, which modifies, I will say, the ethnic balance of the country. Are they doing it deliberately?

BEN DOMENECH (EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, THE SPECTATOR): Listen, I think it’s a choice. It’s a deliberate choice, and it’s been a choice all along, because this type of influx is something that they believe benefits them politically, I think. It’s also helping to encourage the dramatic expansion of taxpayer-funded welfare-type programs, including what you just mentioned about Washington State, which they endorse. It takes bureaucrats to deal with all these different people, and they like to see people coming in who then depend on these programs, which ensures that they continue to exist. It’s all political choices, it’s not things that, you know, have to be that way. But sadly, we have a White House and an administration that absolutely did not want to do their job, especially [Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas]which I hope Republicans on the House side of Congress will look very closely at in the coming months.
