Chandigarh, December 15
A blame game is said to have started in political and bureaucratic circles following a ‘blunder’ in sending a letter to UT Administrator-cum-Governor Banwarilal Purohit regarding the sudden repatriation of Chandigarh Police Chief Superintendent Kuldeep Shahal.
The governor hit back at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann yesterday for saying no group of officers were wanted. Purohit had categorically said that the chief secretary of Punjab had been informed of his decision to repatriate the officer.
All is well: Mann
The Chandigarh SSP will be made up of Punjab cadres only. The state government has a good relationship with the governor. Everything is fine now. —Bhagwant Mann, cm
Sources close to the Secretary General said he had informed senior minister’s office officials of the UT administrator’s decision to prematurely repatriate SSP Chahal, but CMO sources denied this. “No information about this has been shared with the CM or any official of the CMO. If it had been so, the CM would not have written the letter in the first place,” said a senior official delegated to the CMO. .
Meanwhile, Chahal reportedly joined his parental cadre and met the CM yesterday.
