They support the manager.
The FAI has responded to allegations made against Vera Pauw, the manager of the Ireland women’s team.
This comes after Houston Dash issued an apology to its current and former players affected by Pauw’s alleged misconduct.
Pauw has been accused of abusing and mistreating certain players, particularly regarding their weight and physical appearance.
It is alleged that during her tenure, Pauw made comments regarding certain players’ weight and attempted to influence their eating habits.
One player in particular was suffering from an eating disorder at the time, and Pauws’ comments made matters worse.
The FAI have responded to the allegations, backing the manager ahead of the World Cup next summer.
FAI responds to Vera Pauw’s allegations
In a statement on Thursday evening, the football body said: “The FAI is aware of a joint NWSL/NWSLPA report into historic events within its own league in which the manager of the women’s team of the Republic of Ireland, Vera Pauw, was referenced.
“Neither the FAI nor Vera had knowledge of this report prior to its publication and we note that Vera has already expressed her views to the authors of the report.
“The FAI continues to support Vera and her team as they prepare for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023.”
Pauw will be in charge of Ireland’s first women’s World Cup team over the summer, where she hopes to make history with the Girls in Green.
