A strong statement from the Irish boss.

Vera Pauw has released a strong statement in response to allegations made against her by former club Houston Dash.

Pauw managed Houston Dash in 2018 and is accused by the club of a number of allegations of mistreatment and abuse.

Pauw has been accused of abusing and mistreating certain players, particularly regarding their weight and physical appearance.

It is alleged that during her tenure, Pauw made comments regarding certain players’ weight and attempted to influence their eating habits.

The FAI have given their support to the manager of the Irish women’s team, and they themselves have issued a strong statement refuting all the allegations made against them.

Pauw refuted a number of claims made in the report and said outright lies were prevalent about him.

Vera Pauw denies Houston Dash allegations

She said, “I want to refute all of the allegations that have been made against me since my time at Houston Dash. Player welfare has always been of utmost importance to me throughout my career.

“Nutrition is a hugely important aspect of being a professional and my advice to players has always been to look out for their nutritional needs and their health – and always seek the advice of medical experts.

“To suggest that I would shame any human being, footballer or not, is an insult to my personal values and my behavior as a coach and I cannot allow that statement to go unchallenged.

“I appreciate the FAI’s continued support as we look forward to the FIFA Women’s World Cup next summer.”

She concluded: “I cannot allow my name to be attached to such false accusations.”

This year has been so amazing with so many personal ups and downs!
