Allegations of sexual harassment by disgraced Sky News presenter Chris Smith continue to emerge.
The latest dates back to a Channel 9 going away party in 1998.
Smith was the chief of staff of A Current Affair in Sydney at the time.
In an explosive Daily Telegraph report, Smith allegedly exposed himself to a young member of staff at his own going away party – telling him: ‘I want to fuck you.’
The unnamed source said Smith was “clearly already a bit drunk” when the alleged incident took place.
“We were in this meeting room. We were all having a drink and chilling out, and I was in the middle of it all when Chris came staggering and swaying towards me, clearly already a bit drunk,’ she explained .
“I’m paraphrasing here, but he said something like, ‘I want to fuck you. You’re fucking hot,” then I looked down, the zipper on his pants is undone and his penis is hanging out.
“I was shocked and disgusted that he was doing this to me because I had done a good job at Nine and I thought Chris respected me.
“To this day, I have a photographic image of that incident in my mind because it was so distressing. I loved and respected him as my boss, and for him to do this to me was a huge shock and a personal insult.
The woman said Smith allegedly pushed her against the wall as she tried to leave the situation.
“I remember saying, ‘What are you doing? Why are you doing this to me? This is wrong,’ and tried to get away from him by walking around the corner. street, only to see that he wasn’t taking no for an answer and followed me,” she told the publication.
The woman claimed he pushed her against a wall again as his penis ‘dangled’ and told her how much he ‘wanted’ her.
She told The Daily Telegraph she managed to fend him off and run across the room where she found Kim (not her real name), who was a receptionist at Nine and the other woman to receive a payment.
She told Kim what happened, with the woman saying she was so upset her “hand was shaking”.
Smith then allegedly attempted to approach the woman again, with his penis still visible, before a senior executive dragged him out of the conference room.
Smith was not immediately fired for the incident, which angered the woman.
“I expected Chris to be sacked, but they said they would take his car away from him for six months and ban him from going to the Channel 9 bar. That was the punishment. It was a slap in the face. the hand !” she says.
The woman said there was no adequate sexual harassment policy at Channel 9 and as part of the settlement they had to rewrite their policy.
“I also wanted a public apology from Chris to the staff who were there – and they told me that happened,” she said.

Smith, 60, was fired from Sky News Australia and radio station 2GB this week after being accused of lewd behavior at Sky’s year-end celebrations which left a member of staff in tears.
Luxury Mediterranean cruise company Travelrite International – which employed Smith as a “celebrity guest” – also showed him the door.
The big twist came after Sky News Australia’s Christmas party held at The Ivy Sunroom on George Street in Sydney’s CBD, where he allegedly grabbed one woman’s butt and made lewd comments to another about recent vacation photos posted on social media.
A witness said Smith used the word “sexy” multiple times, as well as “side boob”.
A source told The Daily Telegraph that Smith entered the event “like a dinosaur with a huge ego”.
“He actually thought these women would be interested in him. It’s revolting. »
Smith was also suspended 2GB after the station’s 2009 Christmas party after behaving inappropriately towards several women, attempting to kiss one.
In a gushing apology on Monday, Smith said he “dropped the ball.”
“I am beyond disgusted and devastated to know that I upset my co-workers after our Christmas party,” Smith said.
“I apologize profusely to the women I have upset. They are not the man I am at work, ever, as they will all attest. They have been so supportive and don’t deserve treatment so drunk.
“I have a recurring problem with alcohol – it drives me manic. I am in a facility where I receive professional help to conclusively treat my alcohol abuse and resolve it once and for all, without reservation – this can and will be done.
“I’m also terribly upset to humble myself with people I respect and admire. I’ve been lucky enough to call them close colleagues.
“I pride myself on my professionalism and work ethic, but I’ve dropped the ball and embarrassed many people, including the ones I love the most – my family. I’m so sorry.”
No charges were ever brought against Smith and he is not charged with any foul play.
