Vivek Agnihotri responds to Saeed Mirza’s criticism of The Kashmir Files | Bollywood

A day after screenwriter and director Saeed Akhtar Mirza called his film The Kashmir Files trash, filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri responded to the statement and with a promotional tweet for his upcoming film. Vivek shared a screenshot of Saeed’s statement and tweeted, “Maine kaha Mirza sahab ko Salaam. Fir milte hain Janaab, The Delhi Files ke baad (I say, greetings to Mirza sir. Let’s meet after The Delhi Files). 2024.”

Speaking of The Kashmir Files, Saeed had told Indian Express: For me, The Kashmir Files is trash. Is the Kashmiri Pandit problem trash? No it is not. That is true. Are they only Kashmiri Hindus? No. Muslims too are caught in an incredibly vulgar trap of the machinations of intelligence agencies, nations with so-called national interests and paid guys across the border, who continue to wreak havoc. It’s not about taking sides. Be human and try to understand.

Earlier this year, Vivek announced that he would make a movie called The Delhi Files and later confirmed that the movie was slated for 2024. Thank you to all owners of The Kashmir Files. Over the past four years, we have worked very hard with utmost honesty and sincerity. I may have spammed your TL (timeline) but it is important to raise awareness about GENOCIDE and the injustice inflicted on Hindus in Kashmir. It’s time for me to work on a new movie. #TheDelhiFiles,” he tweeted in April this year.

Starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi in the lead roles, The Kashmir Files is about the 1990 exodus and the murders of Kashmiri Pandits. While critics of the film call it propaganda and misrepresentation, Vivek and his team insist the film is based on first-hand accounts from families of people killed in 1990s Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Vivek started filming another movie titled The Vaccine War. Prior to The Kashmir Files, Vivek made a film about the mysterious death of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1966. Vivek wrote and directed the film titled The Tashkent Files. Her other film credits include the erotic thrillers Hate Story and Zid, and Chocolate.
