‘The Game’ rapper hits back at criticism of his daughter’s party look

Rapper The Game, 43, has always bragged about being a dad to a daughter, and this week he took to Instagram to share a bittersweet post of his daughter, California Cali Dream, growing up before his eyes. The post contained two photos, one of her at 2 and another now at 12 and fans wondered if she was dressed too mature for her age.

Someone please tell the LORD to help you. She was only 2 as a week ago he started his job. Now my baby is 12, he’s growing and it won’t stop.

Cali was all dressed up for a sweet 16 thrown by entertainer Diddy, who was hosting a party for his twin daughters, Jessie and Dlila, last weekend.

The How We Do artist knew there would be debate in the comments, so he added, WARNING: Before the internet came to the INTERNET, her mom and I agreed to let her do her makeup for the youngster and handsome @the_combs_twins sweet 16 birthday party.

It sounds like healthy, expressive co-parenting to me.

Still, that hasn’t stopped followers from sharing their outrageous thoughts, writing things like Pretty but yuck. I WILL NEVER LET MY 12 YEAR OLD dress like the girls you bring home, and she’s 12 and wearing this?? I thought it was a grown woman before reading the caption.

Ouch.

While some were unhappy with her outfit, many were more concerned with the rappers’ call to action in the post, encouraging her fans to follow her daughter’s Instagram page. People in the comments felt it was inappropriate for a girl that age to have grown up with men.

One fan expressed, I don’t think inviting grown men to follow a 12-year-old is a good idea. Especially a 12-year-old girl who appears between 18 and 21 on her IG page, due to her short dress, makeup, and provocative pose kneeling on the floor. I am sure that your post will get her a lot of attention from men.

In response to the criticism, The Game responded in his comments saying, I’ll say it once, so people who aren’t his parents understand. My daughter is 12 years old and both her parents are more than strict. Tiffney is a teacher with a masters degree and 2 other degrees who is an amazing parent and very capable of raising our daughter to be awesome even though I wasn’t in the picture.

But I’m in the picture, so Tiffney called me and asked if my daughter could wear the dress in the picture to the twins’ party, he continued. After talking to her at length for over an hour about it, I agreed to let my daughter switch…since she wears a school uniform 5 days a week, he added.

He continued to vouch for his daughter, expressing, My daughter has grown tremendously over the past year and is now almost 5’9 tall and beautiful, She is a straight college student and is shy in most cases and dresses like a boy Tom in baggy jeans and Dr. Martin boots most days. The twins had a futuristic birthday theme and my baby wanted to look great and confident to support her friend’s celebration. I am her father and her protector, and she is and always will be an amazing young woman. I wish everyone happy holidays and thank you for your opinions on a child that belongs to us, but we GOT it.

Huge respect to The Game for not only taking the time to effectively discuss these things with his co-parent, but also reminding the world that they are a team and will not be swayed as to how they are raising their daughter.
