Director Tim Burton and Netflix are under fire from fans who claim the cast and undertones of the new ‘Wednesday’ series are racist.

The show, a comedy-drama highlighting Wednesday Addams’ time as a student at a boarding school, premiered last week to mixed ratings and reviews.

Critics took issue with black actress Joy Sunday playing a mean girl at Nevermore Academy and black actor Iman Marson portraying a bully and the son of a corrupt mayor.

The mayor also owns Pilgrim World, a surprising choice given that the museum celebrates pilgrims and colonizers.

A representative for Burton, who served as director and executive producer on the series, dismissed the criticism when contacted by The Post for comment on Wednesday.

“I’m not forwarding such a silly request for comment to Tim,” WME’s Mike Simpson replied.

Jenna Ortega, who considers herself “75% Mexican and 25% Puerto Rican,” leads the cast of “Wednesday” as the title character.

“Don’t get me wrong, I love Jenna Ortega and she’s playing Wednesday, but one thing I hate about this show is why did they make ALL the black people on this show terrible people?” a viewer tweeted. “For example, how did Netflix not see anything wrong with that? I hate Tim Burton’s racist self.

This isn’t the first time Burton, 64, has come under fire over actors of color in his projects. In 2016, while promoting “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” star Samuel L. Jackson speculated that he was the first black lead role in a Burton film.

The director responded to Jackson’s comments in an interview with Bustle. “Nowadays people are talking about it more,” he said of cinematic diversity. But “either things call for things, or they don’t”.

“I remember when I was a kid watching ‘The Brady Bunch’ and they all started getting politically correct. Like, OK, let’s take an Asian kid and a black kid.
