James Camerons sequel to his 2009 blockbuster film Avatar hit theaters on 16th December 2022. The film titled The Way Of Water was given a whopping budget of almost Rs 3000 crore and was dubbed one most expensive films ever made. be done around the world.
Apparently, Avatar 2 faced a boycott campaign against it in America. Social media users have accused filmmaker James Cameron of appropriating Native American cultures and history and having the advantage of making a predominantly white film.
People think it’s pointless to call for a boycott of Avatar 2. It’s not and while it’s true that Cameron is going to inject dollars and make fun of it a bit, it raises awareness of racism and Cameron’s biases that formed the basis of Avatar & the misrepresentation of Indigenous peoples

Another tweet read, There isn’t a group I hate more than ‘natives’. I can’t stand them. Calling on “indigenous peoples and other indigenous groups around the world to boycott this horrible and racist film”. It shouldn’t be that difficult.

The Woke: If you’re a white person who doesn’t do anything to help, then you’re a racist.
James Cameron: Okay. I will make a blockbuster movie about the Native American struggle.
Waking up: it’s cultural appropriation! You are racist! Boycott Avatar 2! #Avatar2

Meanwhile, James Cameron recently spoke about making an Avatar sequel and said he was inspired by the massive success of the first part to make another installment. The feedback from the world in all cultures was that we want more of this. That’s what people said afterwards. It was too short. I didn’t want to leave, I wanted to stay there, the filmmaker told PTI in an interview.
So I think that’s a validation that has to be taken into account because the movie was thematically talking about something that I think is quite important our relationship with nature, our destructive role with nature and our protective role with nature, added the filmmaker.
Avatar: The Way Of Water has already broken box office records and surpassed $400 million worldwide.
