Terrence Shannon Jr. partly blamed himself after Illinois lost to Missouri in the annual Braggin’ Rights Game. Shannon told the post-match presser about it.
Illinois was thoroughly beaten on both offense and defense in the loss. Missouri defeated Illinois by a score of 93-71. Shannon led the team in scoring against the Tigers with 22 points and also had 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Shannon realizes most people are going to blame Brad Underwood for the loss, but the Illinois G said some of it should go to the players as well. Shannon knows that as a leader he needs to do a better job.
“I have to be a better leader. I didn’t lead the team the way I should,” Shannon said. “Coach said a lot of it is on him, but it’s also on the players. I have to improve the squad and get them ready to play.
#Illini Shannon: I need to be a better leader. I didn’t lead the team as I should… The coach said it was largely on him, but it’s also on the players. I have to improve the team and prepare it to play.
