Gunman kills at least three people in Paris in suspected racist attack

[ad_1]

A gunman killed three people and injured three others on Friday at a Kurdish community center, hair salon and restaurant in central Paris in an attack that French officials say appears to be targeting foreign nationals.

A 69-year-old man with a criminal record was taken into custody during the attack, which sparked neighborhood protests that led to violent clashes with police. Riot police fired tear gas and clashed with dozens of angry protesters who set fire to trash cans and hurled projectiles at police.

One of those injured in the shooting was seriously injured, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office, in the attack shortly before noon on rue d’Enghien, a narrow street in the 10th arrondissement of the French capital.
