Stephen King doubles down on Musk’s criticism

[ad_1]

Best-selling author Stephen King is stepping up his efforts to criticize billionaire Elon Musks for charging famous Twitter users to verify their account.

Musk, who bought the social media network last month, said he would charge a monthly fee of $20, which he has since reduced to $8 because the blue checkmark indicating a celebrity’s account is checked. The move prompted King on Monday to tweet that he would quit the platform rather than pay the fee.

On Wednesday, the Maine horror writer continued to tweet about Musk, praising his technical innovations but criticizing his handling of Twitter.

Kudos to Elon Musk, who started a revolution in the way the world drives and has incredible visionary skills, King wrote. I bought a first Tesla and traded in another. Wonderful cars (no autopilot for me, thanks). That said, when it comes to Twitter…

He went on to say: Musk reminds me of Tom Sawyer, who is given the job of whitewashing a fence as punishment. Tom convinces his friends to do the chores for him and make them pay for the privilege. That’s what Musk wants to do with Twitter. No no no.

Musk didn’t appear to respond to King via social media, but on his own feed Musk continued to defend the fee, posting a cartoon image suggesting the fee was the same price as an iced coffee drink. from Starbucks and, being a monthly subscription, would outlast the drink.

To all complainers, please keep complaining, but it will cost $8
