But despite a couple of late playoffs from the Dallas defense to help in the win, the Eagles offense was a little too comfortable for most of the game as the Cowboys secondary allowed Philly receivers DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown to exceed 100 receiving yards while quarterback Gardner Minshew – who was replacing the injured Jalen Hurts – to post the second-highest total passing yards of his career (355 yards).

While it’s impossible to pin all the blame on a single player, star Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs didn’t hesitate to announce shortly after the game that he was responsible for a “bad ball. “.

On the game’s first big play, Brown rocked Diggs with an impressive 48-yard catch. Diggs was left chasing Brown and couldn’t get the angle on him for a tackle right away as the Eagles’ No. 1 receiving option managed to pick up more yardage.

Diggs has now gone five consecutive games without recording a pass deflection or an interception. He clearly wanted to get one on a crucial fourth down in the third quarter.

But the Eagles used his aggression against him on a smart call, as Minshew faked the handoff and short tossed him to the flat before finding Smith, whom Diggs was supposed to guard, all alone in the end zone.

Diggs has come under heavy criticism for every mistake he makes due to the notoriety he gained after an All-Pro season last year.

But before the critics started ringing in, just like the new year, he made sure to beat Twitter’s haters to the punches.

Dallas (11-4) remains in contention for the divisional crown and the NFC’s No. 1 seed with the win. The Cowboys will now face the Tennessee Titans in Nashville on Thursday.
