During the holidays, Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette feels a little too generous. Fournette sent and then quickly deleted a tweet where he may have revealed too much information about his playing status.
The tweet initially focused on critics who think Fournette is “out of shape.” In response to this criticism, Fournette revealed that he suffered from a Lisfranc injury, which prevents him from pushing his foot.
The tweet didn’t stay long.

It’s unclear why Fournette deleted the tweet. Fournette kept things respectful while addressing his detractors. He didn’t say anything inflammatory or disrespectful.
Because of that, we can guess the tweet was probably deleted as Fournette spoke about the injury. Fournette has appeared on the Bucs’ injury report several times this season, but only once with a foot injury. This happened in Week 14. In the past two weeks, he hasn’t missed practice or received an injury designation before games.
NFL teams generally like to keep this information in-house. Opponents can potentially gain a competitive advantage by knowing details about a player’s injury. It’s also possible the Buccaneers could be in trouble for failing to list Fournette’s foot problem on the injury report. This latter scenario seems unlikely. Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris has revealed he suffered a Lisfranc injury in the preseason and was not listed on the Steelers injury report in Week 1.
Leonard Fournette arrives as Buccaneers advance playoffs
If Fournette felt the injury on Sunday, it was not reflected in the box score. Fournette had a solid game, rushing 20 times for 72 yards and catching 9 passes for 90 yards. He’s been used a lot, suggesting the Bucs aren’t too concerned about the injury.
Bucs rookie Rachaad White, who has seen more snaps in recent weeks, saw his workload drop slightly as Fournette got carried. White, however, was the one to score, snagging a 3-yard pass from Tom Brady in the fourth quarter.
The story continues
Things looked tough at first for the Buccaneers, but the team picked up a late win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Despite trailing 16-6 in the fourth quarter, Brady and the Bucs fought their way back into the competition, forcing overtime.
On Tampa Bay’s first possession in overtime, Brady led the team on a nine-play, 66-yard drive that allowed Ryan Succop to score the game-winning pitch. The Buccaneers won the contest 19-16.
