AEW President Tony Khan has hit back at recent fan criticism of his product, even calling some of the comments fake.

It looks like Tony Khan is ready to go on the attack when people criticize his product, something he has every reason to protect himself from. Lately, some of the criticism has surrounded the lack of construction for certain matches.

In a recent chat with Fightful, Tony Khan spoke about the criticism and why he doesn’t think it’s deserved.

Wrestling fans are amazing people, but, I think in a way, some wrestling fans are like Why is this match happening? They shouldn’t play this game. There is no building. Maybe this is the start of something. How do you know?

A specific example given by the AEW chief was the recent contest between Jon Moxley and Daniel Garcia ahead of the Battle Royale on Rampage.

Well, first of all, both are going to be in this game. Maybe there will be something there on Friday, so we already told you there was something else. I saw someone say that this match was not necessary. What does it mean? You say it’s not a way for people to watch TV anymore because every game has to have some kind of story to get into it. Well, what about the story that everyone wants to be the best? That’s how most sports are, and there are intrigues in games and matches.

Khan went on to discuss the fake storyline review of his show.
