No arrests were made.
Speaking on the sidelines of a festive season campaign in KwaZulu-Natal, Cele pledged to ensure the case is dealt with quickly.
“These guys have left the lodge and we are chasing them there,” the minister said.
Meanwhile, the tourism industry says it is concerned that the alleged racist attack at the Maselspoort Resort will put a damper on the morale of holidaymakers across the country.
The tourism industry concerns come as the country celebrates one of its busiest times of the year, with domestic and international tourist activity at its peak.
SA Tourism said racial profiling and discrimination were not good for the country’s public image and for business.
The National Tourism Agency said if the incident went unpunished it could scare off holidaymakers.
Tourism Minister Lindiwe Sisulu has also warned that poor publicity in the tourism sector is likely to set back the industry as it recovers from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and simply cannot not afford further setbacks.
Sisulu further called on the police to quickly finalize the investigations.
Maselspoort Resort is currently not graded by the Tourism Grading Council, a quality assurance body.
