Elaine Chao, President Trump’s former transportation secretary, refuses to respond to Trump’s latest use of a racist nickname to attack him and urges the media not to repeat it.

Trump repeatedly invoked Chao as he lambasted her husband, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and he did so again Wednesday night in a Truth Social article that included a racist nickname for Chao.

“I think it’s very helpful if the media doesn’t repeat that racist tweet,” Chao told Kaitlan Collins on “CNN This Morning.” “I mean, if it was the N-word or any other word, the media wouldn’t repeat it. But the media continually repeats his racist taunts.

The attack came amid a post criticizing McConnell for voting for the $1.7 trillion omnibus package to fund the government until next year.

“There’s something going on with Mitch McConnell and all the terrible, near-automatic ‘surrenders’ he gives to Marxist Democrats, like on the $1.7 trillion ‘Ominous’ bill. Could have killed him using the debt ceiling, or make it MUCH better in the Republican House,” Trump wrote.

Later in the post, he invoked the nickname during an apparent attack on the Chao family’s US shipping company, which has connections to China and other countries.

“He’s trying to up our game,” Chao, who also served as labor secretary under former President George W. Bush, told CNN. “He says all kinds of outrageous things, and I don’t want to respond to any of them.”

The DC mayor said Jan. 6 that the panel’s failures stemmed from the belief that far-right extremists were “friendly” to police. GOP lawmakers from districts Biden won said they would only back McCarthy for president

Trump has regularly attacked Chao and McConnell, whose relationship with Trump soured after the Senate GOP leader called Joe Biden president-elect. It declined further after the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Chao resigned within days of the attack.

“Yesterday our country experienced a traumatic and entirely preventable event when supporters of the President stormed the Capitol Building following a rally he addressed,” she wrote in a statement. letter to Department of Transportation personnel at the time. “As I’m sure it does for many of you, it has troubled me deeply in ways that I simply cannot put aside.”
