Pro wrestling legend and future WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman, who currently works as WWE Universal Heavyweight Council Special Champion Roman Reigns, recently spoke about the criticism Logan received. Paul and defended him against them.

Logan Paul signed a pro contract ahead of the SummerSlam pay-per-view event this year, and from the very first day of signing the contract, he received massive criticism. In his very first one-on-one match against The Miz, he was pretty impressive. But it still wasn’t enough to impress fans and the reviews never stopped.

When WWE decided to make him the no. 1 Competitor for the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns, the decision faced major backlash from fans. No one wanted to see him perform at this level. But at Crown Jewel, his performance was really commendable and he won a lot of fans after this great performance.

Despite such an incredible performance, it wasn’t enough for him to please all WWE fans. Many fans have already started comparing him to WCW’s David Arquette situation. But that’s far from the case as Paul didn’t win anything and he would perform regularly in WWE as a wrestler and he proved his worth as a wrestler. This is therefore far from being the situation of David Arquette.

Paul Heyman, who currently works as WWE Universal Heavyweight Council Special Champion Roman Reigns, recently spoke on After The Bell with Corey Graves where he spoke about the criticism Logan Paul has received and defended him against that. He said;

Watch his match with The Miz. He came to play. It wasn’t just a question of someone saying okay, what can I do? He was someone who wanted to put on a show. He’s someone who wanted his match to be judged against every other match on the show, and the show was SummerSlam; it was a hell of a big event. And it was competitive, competitive with everyone on the show trying to have the best game of the night, trying to entertain the audience more than any of the other attractions shown.

That says a lot. He’s not someone who’s going Ok, ok, just tell me what I need to know and I hope I don’t, I’ll try not to mess it up. He is someone who has come to compete with everyone on the list. It’s really impressive, it’s someone who wants it.

Someone takes it seriously. He’s the one who can go to WWE and say if I hit that lucky shot, if I become the champion, you got me 365 days a year to promote that stuff. ‘Cause I’ll be someone who won’t be [an embarrassment].

He wouldn’t, he wouldn’t be a David Arquette with the title. He wouldn’t, it wouldn’t be a shame. He takes it very seriously. Now, whether this is the end of the reign of the Romans or not is another story. But if by the whim of fate an act of God and a disguise has malevolence towards the tribal leader and Logan Paul becomes the undisputed champion, he wouldn’t be an unworthy champion.
