Professional League of Legends player Triple quit TSM over drug addiction allegations

Triple, a veteran League of Legends mid laner set to play for TSM’s NACL team, has responded to a series of allegations made by his ex-girlfriend Long, admitting many of the allegations made against him. TSM has since parted ways with the mid laner.

2022 has been a tough year for TSM. Between the FTX crisis and their NACL team coming under fire for building a team of mostly veteran players, their recent stay in the League of Legends space has been fraught with controversy.

Now they are going to have to change their NACL list again. Stephen Triple Li was suddenly dropped by TSM, with very little context as to why they terminated his contract.

It turned out that Triples’ ex-girlfriend Long had a list of allegations against Triple from their time together, including allegations that he made death threats against others, abused substances several times and that he had cheated on her. Triples’ response made it clear that he abused illegal substances on multiple occasions as a professional League of Legends player.

TSM NACL mid laner Triple leaves after substance abuse

On December 28, 2022, Long (also known as makrs) released a statement about his relationship with Triple, an Australian mid laner who has been playing League of Legends professionally since 2015.

In her set of allegations, detail her time in a relationship with Triple. Long claimed that Triple was abusing substances when she started dating him. He also used drugs, alcohol and nicotine almost daily. Despite all this, I started a relationship with him.

She then claimed that Triple lied to her about quitting his drug addiction, which was a repeated problem in their relationship. This, along with allegations that his anger issues hampered his professional playing career and the well-being of those around him, were the main reason they are no longer together.

According to Long, his repeated drug addiction resulted in multiple instances where Triple lost control of himself. One of these events involves a party thrown at his apartment.

During the split, I threw a party at my apartment, during which he drank so much that he passed out on my bed and threw up all over the place. I ended up having to throw out my sheets and had a panic attack because I really couldn’t wake him up. I had to call a friend to come and help me move him to a safe place so he wouldn’t choke on his own vomit and we could clean the apartment.

Long also alleged that Triple still had feelings for his ex-girlfriend during their relationship, feelings that she encouraged him to confront head-on. That night when we came back, he told me he might still have a lot of unresolved feelings about his past relationship. I told him he had to go talk to the girl in question to settle everything, and I was ready for our relationship to end at that point, even though I was still very much in love with him.

This would lead to Triple coming back to Molly, according to her. He left to change clothes, came back stoned from Molly, and made me a lot of false promises that I treasured deeply at the time.

Long would later find out that Triple was seeing his ex-girlfriend again and that they had kissed according to what he was told.

That’s just part of the allegations she made against Triple during their time together, creating an incredibly big case against the pro player with screenshots to back up her claims. However, Long didn’t want Triples League of Legends’ career to end, even after all of this.

I loved Stephen very, very deeply, and I really never wanted anyone to succeed the way I wanted them to. She had one last message for Triple at the end of her statement: Stephen, if for any reason you’re reading this, please stop doing drugs. Please take back your life. Please think of someone other than yourself.

Triple responds to allegations and confirms drug addiction

While Triple disputed some of the details of what Long posted, he admitted most of what she alleged against him and gave some insight into where he was emotional during the events that unfolded.

His statement begins with Triple talking about his declining career in NA and the mental toll that has weighed on him throughout his time as a competitor in the region. He described the sacrifices he made as a professional player and some of the emotional highs and lows.

Triple claimed that at some point playing and winning competitions slowly became my only focus, which led him to go back to his old ways.

As the situation for the season started to get worse, I started to go back to my habits of taking harsher substances on occasion, which I understand is a very temporary and unhealthy way to deal with stress, but at the time, for me, it took the least amount of time to put me in the best position to be ready for the next day.

Thanks to the response, Triple would admit to several instances of drug addiction (whether intentionally or accidentally), causing long panic attacks as a result of her actions, cheating on her, and having numerous outbursts of anger in between her time at the Korean boot. camp and get mixed up on different rosters.

Triple expressed regret for the way he repeatedly treated Long in his response while admitting he kissed his ex-girlfriend when he hadn’t broken up with her yet.

As detailed in Longs’ post, that part is true, and I’m extremely bummed that I did it before I broke up with Long. I broke up with her that night and didn’t mention that detail as I assumed it would only make her state of mind worse, but in hindsight it was the most disrespectful thing I had ever done. could have done in the situation, and she deserved to know everything. According to Triple, this ex broke up with him 10 days later because she felt disgusted with everything that had happened and didn’t want to pursue things anymore.

Regarding the message about wanting to go 200 mph through an intersection and kill 6 people, Triple had this to say:

The part where I mentioned I wanted to crash into an intersection and kill 6 people was a reference to a nearby incident that appeared on the news at the time. I don’t idolize or want to recreate that in any way and for what it’s worth, I haven’t had a physical altercation with a player. My car only goes 200 km/h and I have never received a ticket for speeding or reckless driving.

This was followed by Triple disputing the photo of the pistol in the hand he sent Long, saying: The photo I sent was not of my hand, and I do not physically own any firearm or lethal weapon. He then posted two photos of his hand to prove his claim.

Near the end of his statement, Triple claimed that I had never negotiated or threatened anyone with mental illness, overdose or suicide to get what I wanted, and for what it’s worth, I did. been clean since I signed with TSM and will continue to do so. I firmly believe that given the past, any progress should be celebrated, not shunned, and I’m willing to buy cups and pee in them to prove I’m headed in that direction.

Triple has since been dropped by TSM. Although they don’t have a reason for it, it’s safe to assume why they terminated this player’s contract.

Riot Games has yet to take any action to ban Triple from future competitions within League of Legends, so as of this writing he may still be competing should he find a new team.
