Elon Musk teased the release of the “Fauci Files” on Sunday, which follows his criticism of Dr. Anthony Fauci, who resigned as the White House’s chief medical adviser in late 2022.

“Hope you’re having a great day 1 2023!” the Twitter CEO tweeted. “One thing is for sure, it won’t be boring.”

In response to Musk’s comment, one user tweeted, “Waiting……for #FauciFiles.” The billionaire replied, “Later this week.”

Musk targeted Fauci in early December when he tweeted, “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci.”

It’s America. You can select any pronoun, please. But Anthony Fauci has probably saved more human lives than any living person in the world. Shame on you. pic.twitter.com/NbQks9Tohn

On Dec. 13, Fauci said in an interview with the science journal Nature that Musk’s remarks are “getting a lot of hate out of people.” When asked if his safety was at risk, Fauci replied, “Of course.” He added that he “armed feds with me the whole time.”

Later that month, Musk said several Twitter employees had an internal Slack channel called “Fauci Fan Club.” After that, he posted a tweet stating that Twitter should change the policy and “follow the science”, which must include “reasoned questioning of science”.

After The New York Times reported that Fauci had fan portraits of himself adorning his home office, Musk called it “creepy.” He went on to say, “Maybe he loves watching science.”

Fauci previously announced he was stepping down from his multiple roles, including that of director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, at the end of 2022.

Meanwhile, reporters appointed by Musk discussed several controversies stemming from so-called Twitter files. These include internal discussions regarding the decision to ban former President Trump from tweeting in the wake of the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.

But Twitter’s CEO and some independent journalists are upset that the Twitter Files haven’t received more press support.
