MELAKA: The Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia Party (Putra) has filed a police complaint against Melaka Barisan Nasional and Umno Datuk leader Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh (pictured) for alleged abuse of power.
Wanita party leader Laila Norinda Maon said she authored the report calling for a thorough investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) into Ab Rauf’s alleged abuse of power involving a concession on the road maintenance system (Marris).
“We want MACC to investigate whether there is an element of abuse of power in the awarding of the concession following a viral Facebook video recently,” she said after filing a report to the Ayer Keroh police station on Monday January 2.
The five-minute, 19-second video alleged that Ab Rauf, who is also chairman of Melaka’s investment, industry, entrepreneur development and cooperatives committee, tried to redirect Marris allocations for local government to the Chief Minister Incorporation (CMI).
Marris’ stipend is also intended to help small entrepreneurs in the state.
Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit confirmed receiving the report.
