Skip Bayless has found himself in hot water over a tweet he sent regarding the terrifying injury to Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin last night. Hamlin received CPR in the field for several minutes after going into cardiac arrest and was rushed to hospital where he is in critical condition.

Bayless tweeted about what the NFL needs to do moving forward. The match that was postponed featured two of the AFC’s top seeds battling for the standings in their penultimate matches.

On Undisputed, which today was without co-host Shannon Sharpe, Bayless tried to explain:

“I was putting myself at the helm of the NFL executive starting with Roger Goodell, who has to figure out on the fly what to do here. no doubt to postpone the rest of the game.”

He continued:

“I commented that at this end of the season that with a game of this magnitude it is very difficult to postpone it again, the end of my tweet was all that suddenly seems so out of place for the first time in NFL history.

Bayless added:

“My point was that everything was rendered irrelevant by what was happening on the football field, in front of all these football players, these gladiators, these warriors, they were shaken to their very foundations.”

He went on to say that nothing matters more than Damar Hamlin’s health:

“Nothing is more important than the health of this young man. That was the point of my last tweet, I’m sorry if it was misunderstood, but his health is all that matters. Again, everyone rest is irrelevant. I prayed for him. And I will continue to pray for him.”

He ended by saying:

“So now the NFL has done exactly the right thing. They’ve postponed. I have no idea how they’re going to make this game up. And I don’t care. All that matters now is that This young man who had his NFL life ahead of him, remains in critical condition, in a Cincinnati hospital, all that matters.”

Bayless’s tweet caused a firestorm and put the controversial analyst in trouble online.
