Senator Adelere Oriolowo representing Osun West Senatorial District is seeking N500 million compensation and an apology from Governor Ademola Adeleke over allegations he stole machinery and transformers while running an agency.

The lawmaker has threatened to sue the state government if its demands are not met.

The findings of the Asset Recovery Committee chaired by Dr. Bashir Salami had ordered Oriolowo to return five machines to the Osun State Agricultural Development Program (OSSADEP).

They include a grader, a bulldozer and a soil compactor.

The senator, in a press interview on Tuesday, said the allegations were unfounded.

The said machines, which then belonged to OSSADEP, existed when I left the agency 15 years ago.

I therefore requested my lawyers to write to the state government demanding a letter of apology within seven days and also to pay the sum of 500 million naira as compensation for the unquantifiable damage done to my name and to my integrity,” he said.

Senator Oriowo added that if the state government does not respond to his demands, he will use “every legal means at my disposal to obtain justice.
