Mancherial: Reacting to the virality of his slap to the Mandamarri toll plaza employee, Bellamapalli MLA Durgam Chinnaiah on Wednesday denied the allegations.
In a statement, Chinnaiah clarified that he did not assault staff members at the square. He said people were unhappy with the collection of fees before the completion of the Mancherial-Chandrapur national highway works. He regretted that patients are forced to wait during medical emergencies. He blamed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for levying a levy on motorists without completing the works.
MLA further said that work on a road over a bridge about 200 meters from the square is yet to be completed.
It is worth mentioning here that Bharat Rashtra Samithi party and Bellampalli MP Durgam Chinnaiah came under fire from netizens after his video slapping Mandamarri toll booth staff for not clearing the road for his vehicle, went viral. The incident happened on Tuesday evening.
In the CCTV footage, MP Durgam Chinnaiah was seen slapping the toll booth worker and his supporters were seen trying to stop him. The employee fled the place to save himself. The toll station employees demand justice and take strict action against the deputy who misbehaved with a service employee.
