Prince Harry tries to blame William and Kate for his Nazi costume and people don’t have it

Prince Harry obviously has many reasons to distance himself from the royal family, most of which he will detail in his forthcoming memoir, Spare, which is said to be “raw, with unflinching honesty”. However, a detail that leaked before the book was released on January 10, about the famous Nazi costume Harry wore to a costume party in 2005, has people calling BS on the Duke of Sussex.

The theme of the party had apparently been ‘Native and Colonial’, and Harry, then 20, found himself on the front page of British tabloid The Sun dressed as a Nazi soldier with a red armband adorned with a large swastika . But he now says it was his brother Prince William (who wore a lion costume) and his now wife Kate Middleton who encouraged him to wear the costume, according to Page Six.

In a segment of the book, obtained by Page Six, Harry writes about the choice of outfit, revealing that it was a mix between two suits: a pilot or a Nazi.

“I phoned Willy and Kate, asked what they thought. Nazi uniform, they said,” Harry wrote, adding that when he got home and tried it on for them, “ They both screamed. Worse than the Willys leotard outfit! Far more ridiculous! Which, again, was the point.

With no shortage of legitimate grievances, his stepmother just had dinner with two of his wife’s biggest trolls, after all, it’s odd that Harry chooses to focus on this faux pas, which is to say it sweetly. And maybe the full excerpt from the book will provide some additional context, but right now it doesn’t look very good.

As more than a few people have pointed out, at 20 Harry was old enough to know the difference between good and evil, and wearing a real Nazi costume is about as bad as it gets.

One of the other revelations that surfaced in Harry’s book this week concerns a physical altercation between the brothers, in which he writes that William “attacked” him after they argued over Meghan Markle. It would seem that after the publication of Harry’s memoir, there will still be no love lost between the two.
