Jameela Jamil has sparked a row on social media after a racist post directed at Rishi Sunak appeared on her Instagram account. The expletive-laden message appeared on Friday, January 6, in response to government attempts to limit strike powers.

The government announced on Thursday that it was moving forward with plans to introduce new legislation for “minimum levels of security” during industrial action. The bill will be introduced in parliament in the coming weeks to ensure that vital public services retain a “basic function” when workers go on strike.

Ms Jamil, who has 3.7million Instagram followers, wrote: “I can’t stress this enough…F*** RISHI SUNAK. Unelected, out of touch, right wing, T****R.

“Trying to stop people from going on strike in a country that its government has completely screwed up…that’s dictatorship, not leadership. These people are going on strike because their jobs don’t allow them to no SURVIVE. Billionaire clown wants to silence them. We can’t let that happen.

Another comment on Ms. Jamil’s Instagram account read: “PAY. AND. PROTECT. THE. PEOPLE. WHO. KEEP. YOUR. COUNTRY.

“I’m sick of people on the left who seem to think racism is okay if it’s directed at someone on the right.”

Columnist Ben Obese-Jecty tweeted a screenshot of the Instagram post, commenting: “Jameela Jamil here refers to the current and former Prime Minister and Home Secretaries as ‘coconuts’.

“I’ve written before about how the use of this type of language by celebrities with huge platforms legitimizes this abuse.

“Why are so few willing to call him?”

But political commentator Marina Purkiss defended the post, tweeting: “Yesterday was @simonpegg. Today @jameelajamil.

“I’m so here for the celebrities using their platforms to shine a light on this corrupt government clown show…”

Pegg shared his response to Mr Sunak’s plan to have pupils study maths until the age of 18 calling the Prime Minister a ‘pr***’.

The Mission: Impossible actor expressed his frustration on Instagram over the decision to prioritize math over the arts and humanities.

It came after the Prime Minister unveiled his priorities for the year ahead, including a promise to reduce the UK’s national debt and reduce huge NHS backlogs.

Pegg said: ‘So Rishi Sunak, our unelected and unelected prime minister, decided that it should be compulsory for children to learn maths until the age of 18, what a pr* **.

“What about the arts and humanities and promoting this country’s incredible reputation for creativity and self-expression? How about this? What about kids who don’t want to do math? I hated math.

“I dropped math as soon as I could and never needed it other than the skills I learned when I was 12. But no. Rishi Sunak wants a fucking army of data entry robots drones.”

He then said, “F*** the Tories. Get rid of them. Please! F*** you, Rishi Sunak, and f*** the Tories.”

Downing Street and Ms Jamil were approached for comment.
