[ad_1]

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Saturday fired an employee who threatened a Christian security guard with blasphemy over a parking dispute in Karachi.

According to footage from the incident in the cargo area of Jinnah International Airport, the row arose over the female security guard berating a man for allowing an acquaintance vehicle through security without vehicle pass.

The man allegedly threatened the female officer with blasphemy charges, saying he would call the preachers I’m crazy and I’ll cut [you] up. The female officer can be heard calling out the man for threatening her with blasphemy allegations and daring him to file a blasphemy case against her.

Footage of the incident quickly circulated on social media, inviting criticism and condemnation.

In response to the incident, a statement released today by the CAA spokesperson said the dispute occurred on Thursday and officials were aware of the matter.

According to the statement, in accordance with the initial investigation, the CAA S* employee has been removed from his post and a detailed investigation has been ordered.

Former PPP chairman and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari learned of the incident and urged federal and provincial authorities to ensure the safety of the female officer.

It is shameful that the woman in charge of security was threatened with a case of profanity while carrying out her duty, he said, demanding an investigation into the incident.

The charge of blasphemy is a very dangerous act, Zardari said, adding that some elements wanted to defame Pakistan under the guise of religion.

The government and the people must discourage such thinking.

If the accusation against the female security guard turns out to be false, the accuser must be severely punished, demanded the head of the PPP.

Former Senator Farhatullah Babar called on authorities to take notice of the incident and praised the female security guards who handled the situation.

Meanwhile, human rights activist and lawyer Jibran Nasir said the accuser should be apprehended and prosecuted for making such threats against a government official and lamented that the honor of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is reduced to a tool to be used for practical purposes.
