On Sunday, the chairman of the Kerala Youth Congress unit, Shafi Parambil, came under heavy criticism from leaders, cutting group affiliations, accusing the organization of being dormant and inactive under him.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chairman of the Kerala Youth Congress Unit, Shafi Parambil, came under heavy criticism from leaders on Sunday, cutting group affiliations, accusing the organization of being dormant and inactive under him.

The criticism came during the Youth Corps State Executive meeting in Ernakulam.

Responding to the criticism, Shafi, for his part, accused the party’s head of state, K. Sudharakan, of interfering in the organization’s affairs, thus leading to an increase in the group’s activities.

The state secretary general of the Youth Congress and Sudhakaran loyalist, Rijil Makutti, said the head of state was forced to intervene because the organization had been inactive for several months.

Even after several issues arose in Kerala against the LDF government, the Youth Congress remained inactive. Parambil, owed allegiance to the “A” Group of the Youth Congress, but when appointing the opposition leader, he had backed VD Satheeshan instead of Ramesh Chennithala who had the support of the “A” Group leader and former Chief Minister, Oomen Chandy. This led the leaders of the ‘A’ and ‘I’ groups to distance themselves from Parambil, who is now not identified with any party group.

Youth Congress sources told IANS that the leaders were unhappy that Parambil was not lifting the suspension of state leaders, MS Nusur and SR Baalu, who had been suspended due to issues within organisation. IANS
