Prince Harry has denied that he and Meghan have ever accused the Royal Family of racism, arguing that there is a “difference between racism and unconscious bias”.

In an interview with ITV News presenter Tom Bradby, Harry was asked about the couple’s meeting with Oprah Winfrey last year.

Meghan told Winfrey that when she was pregnant with Archie, there were “concerns and conversations about how dark her skin was when she was born.”

In Sunday’s interview, Bradby said, “In the Oprah interview, you accuse members of your family of racism…”

“No,” Harry interjected. “The British press said that, didn’t they? Did Meghan ever mention ‘they’re racist’?” Bradby said: “She said there were disturbing comments about Archie’s skin color. Wouldn’t you describe that as basically racist?”

Harry replied that he would not describe the incident as racist, “having not lived with this family”.

Harry continued: “Once it’s been recognized or pointed out to you as an individual, if not an institution, that you have unconscious biases, then you have the opportunity to learn and grow from that… if not , then unconscious bias falls into the category of racism.”

Harry then referred to an incident in which Lady Susan Hussey, a member of the House of Buckingham Palace, repeatedly asked black British charity boss Ngozi Fulani where she was really from.

“What happened to Ngozi Fulani is a very good example of the environment within the institution,” he added.

He said: “We think she’s great. I also know she never meant any harm. But the response from the UK press and netizens because of the stories they’ve written has been horrendous. , absolutely awful.”

Ms Fulani said she suffered horrific abuse on social media after going public with the incident with Lady Susan. Additionally, his domestic violence charity, Sistah Space, had to suspend operations over safety concerns.
