The Delhi BJP on Sunday criticized the Aam Aadmi Party for questioning the appointment of 10 aldermen to the MCD by the Lieutenant Governor, saying the Kejriwal government had appointed 30 people affiliated with the AAP during the previous term of office. civic body.

His statement came in response to earlier allegations by the AAP that people affiliated with the BJP had been appointed aldermen by the LG.
AAP Chief Spokesman Saurabh Bhardwaj had claimed the appointments were a “ploy” by the BJP to take control of the Delhi Municipal Standing Committee and Area Committees.

Responding to Bhardwaj, Kapoor said the Aam Aadmi party should have checked the backgrounds of the aldermen appointed to the three MCD houses from 2017-22 before raising the issue.

The three companies merged last year to create a unified MCD.
He said AAP spokespersons Ghanendra Bhardwaj and Captain Shalini lived in the South Delhi Corporation area but had been appointed aldermen of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation.
Alderman Haji Yunus appointed in the DMC East in 2017 became MP from Aam Aadmi party in 2020 and Alderman Atul Gupta contested the election of MP for Vishwas Nagar in 2020 on the AAP ticket, Kapoor said.
Similarly, BS Joon was appointed to the South Delhi Municipal Corporation as Alderman who became the Aam Aadmi Party MP for Bijwasan in 2020, Kapoor said.
Kuldeep Mittal and Satyapal Kaim were also affiliated with the AAP and yet appointed aldermen, he said.
Kapoor said all former aldermen openly claim to be AAP leaders and have put up signs and nameplates citing their affiliation, in their areas.
