Lawyer for Andrew Tates speaks out and claims there is no proof of rape and trafficking allegations

The lawyer representing the Tate brothers following their arrest in Romania as part of a human trafficking investigation has issued a statement to the Romanian press. He addressed the circumstances of the detention and the allegations of human trafficking, rape and organized crime.

Tate and his brother Tristan were both arrested following a search of their home on December 29. Initially detained for 24 hours, this period has been extended to 30 days, and the two men, as well as two women also arrested, remain in detention.

An appeal of this 30-day custody is expected to take place in court on January 10, their lawyer, Eugen Vidineac, said. The following quotes were given in Romanian and translated.

Speaking to Romanian news outlet Gandul, Vidineac said the Tate brothers went from witnesses to suspects, and suspects to defendants, on the evening of December 29, 2022.

On the other allegations, Vidineac also claims that there is no evidence of human trafficking or organized crime.

From my point of view, there is no evidence there either, and I am talking about evidence which leads, by itself or directly, to the formation of an opinion of reasonable suspicion on the commission of acts provided for and punishable by criminal law. In this case, we are talking about human trafficking and an organized criminal group.

The Tate brothers were scared in court and didn’t understand the charges

The lawyer also clarified that the Tate brothers had not understood the translation given to the court and that the defense had asked to bring in a new translator.

The Tate brothers repeatedly pointed out that they didn’t understand the translation and looked at the defense quite scared, wondering: what’s going on, what are we talking about?

I have intervened twice, myself and my colleague Adrian Sndulescu, to ask the court to change the translator, because the defendants do not understand faithfully or even generally the charges against them.

Subsequently, the session was held in English, at the request of the court.

Concluding the interview, the attorney also talked about Andrew Tates’ social media presence and recent posts.

I would like to say one more thing, Vidineac said. This is a question supported by my clients, who I personally believe, they made me believe the difference between character and person.
