e-flux Review and e-flux Agenda
With the new year, e-flux welcomes e-flux Criticism and e-flux Agenda into the fold and on its homepage. The transformation of these two branches of our growing family, once known collectively as the art-agenda, reflects a desire to integrate the multiple activities of e-flux and to develop links between them.
e-flux Criticism, formerly editorial of the art diary, will operate as the home of critics on e-flux. Since it began publishing art reviews in 2010, the publication has built up an invaluable archive of nearly 1,500 art reviews and articles by writers around the world.
As the space for independent cultural criticism is increasingly under threat, the time seems right to expand the reach, ambition and frequency of its program. The number of texts published each month will increase, with coverage of exhibitions supplemented by more reviews of books, films and other forms that cut across the expanding field of contemporary art.
This move will bring greater visibility to the platform, position it more clearly within the broader e-flux constellation, and place critique at the heart of e-flux’s various engagements.
e-flux Agenda, formerly art-agenda Announcements, is the primary service through which galleries, independent art spaces, projects and publications disseminate their news, and an invaluable research resource for international art professionals .
Delivered via email newsletter to our growing subscriber base, e-flux agenda announcements are now visible on the e-flux website, which garners over 6 million page views each year. This approach increases the visibility of independent and regional programs by positioning them alongside e-flux ads.
The decision to support criticism as a central pillar of e-flow production also responds to the recent significant growth in online art-agenda readership. This gives us confidence that the audience for independent criticism is growing even as the number of established outlets declines, an increase corresponding to the demand for reliable, timely and freely accessible information about exhibitions, reviews, projects and most vital programs. around the world.
e-flux Criticism aspires to be the home of independent cultural criticism. e-flux Agenda will continue to be the main tool for disseminating exhibitions and news to professionals in the art industry throughout the world. Together with the various branches of e-flux, the objective remains to set the agenda for contemporary cultural discourse and to offer an unrivaled and free resource to our readers.
