The lawyer representing social media personality Andrew Tate claimed there was no evidence to support the allegations of human trafficking, rape or organized crime against him.

The former professional kickboxer turned online personality, 36, and his brother Tristan were arrested in Romania last month in connection with an investigation into human trafficking and rape.

Eugen Vidineac, who represents the two brothers, told Romanian online newspaper Gandul that he believed the character someone like Tate portrayed on social media could not be used as evidence in a criminal trial because he might not. not reflect who they are in real life.

In a video with translated captions posted to Tates’ Twitter account, Mr Vidineac said it took the Tate brothers a while to figure out why they were in custody.

Romanian authorities on Thursday seized four more luxury cars ahead of a Bucharest court appearance on Tuesday, after 11 vehicles had already been captured in raids.

At least seven of the cars seized are registered to the Tate brothers, who grew up in Luton, Bedfordshire.

Romania’s organized crime agency DIICOT said two British citizens and two Romanians were suspected of being part of a criminal group focused on human trafficking.

Their appeals will be heard against a decision by judges to extend their arrest warrant from 24 hours to 30 days, DIICOT added.

The Tate brothers, who Mr Vidineac said are not married but have children in Romania, will also appeal against the seizure of some of their property.

Mr. Vidineac told Gandul that the defense had not had the opportunity to study the prosecution case.

The lawyer said several electronic devices were seized in April last year and computer-searched.

He added: I point out at the outset that even so far the criminal investigation file is not made available to us to ensure an effective defense of our clients.

In this sense, I would like to point out, at least from this point of view, I am also somewhat surprised, that there is not a single piece of evidence apart from the victim impact statement that leads to the idea that a crime of rape has been committed.

Asked about the evidence to support a human trafficking offence, Mr. Vidineac replied: in my opinion, there is no evidence there either, and I am talking about evidence leading , by themselves or directly, to the formation of an opinion of reasonable suspicion concerning the commission of offenses provided for and punished by criminal law.

In this case, we are talking about human trafficking and organized crime.

Mr Vidineac said the documents they had seen did not accurately describe the hierarchy of the group, the functions of each person in this alleged criminal group.

He said the documents also failed to meet legal requirements regarding how the offense of human trafficking is committed.

Speaking about claims that men looked down on women, Mr Vidineac said: They say these issues are taken out of context, from some interviews they have done on social media.

But they also say, if we live our lives surrounded by more than 300 people, women and men, we have a lot of girlfriends and supporters all over the world, we go out in public all the time with our girlfriends and there is no had no complaints from our girlfriends.

People have come out in public and said they’ve been with one of the Tate brothers and he’s not a violent, uneducated, abusive character as portrayed at this point.

Speaking about the role social media can play in the case, Mr Vidineac said: In the case of the Tate brothers, I don’t know what their intention was to promote themselves on social media, but I’m sitting here and I wonder if this intention of the social media can be used as evidence in a case of criminal prosecution, as far as a criminal character is concerned?
