After a tough day yesterday, Erin posted a photo with her son and said, “If I could take it off I would.

“He’s exhausted at this point, sometimes I hate autism and all that it brings.

“Watching someone you love suffer and you don’t know why.”

She received a message criticizing her and suggesting it was her fault her son had a bad day.

The message read: “What are you waiting for to bring him to a noisy and overloaded place of meaning?

“If that’s ‘soul crushing’ for you, how do you think your poor son feels when you do what you want to do without an ounce of sense of how it might affect him?

“He should be your priority.”

Erin took to her Instagram Stories to explain how sick she was of receiving these upsetting messages.

The influencer said: “I’ve thought long and hard about what kind of messages I get.

“The place I took him to was my mum’s house, which he’s very used to and doesn’t have a lot of sensory overload, but that’s the type of ignorance I get.”

Erin shared a video that showcased the harsh realities some families face due to autism.

She said: “The reason I’m sharing this is that autism isn’t all sunshine and roses.

“This part of autism that affects so many families. And you’re disrespectful of what they’re going through.

“Now come back to me and tell me it’s great.”

Erin went on to explain the struggle she and many others are enduring.

She said: “It’s a reality that many families face because I would change that if I could. End of story.

“It’s not all sunshine and rainbows guys and as emotional as it is to watch, it’s happening.

“Families deal with this every day and tell me how it wouldn’t emotionally drain you watching your baby go through this. Autism is a spectrum, remember that.

“I really believe that even though great efforts have been made in the media, they really need to remember that not all children lead functional lives.

“We need to bring more awareness and allow families to be supported.”
