Amid the wall-to-wall coverage of Prince Harry’s book, there are some interesting revelations.

The Afghan Killings

Harry’s memoir includes an admission that he killed 25 people while serving as an Apache attack helicopter pilot in Afghanistan.

It’s not a number that fills me with satisfaction, but it doesn’t embarrass me either, he writes, comparing hitting targets to knocking chess pieces off a chessboard. He says that in times of war, soldiers usually don’t know how many enemies they have killed. But in the days of Apaches and laptops, he was able to tell exactly how many enemy combatants I had killed. And it seemed essential to me not to be afraid of this number.

Part of the reason he doesn’t feel guilty for taking lives, he says, is that he never forgot he was in the Eton TV room, watching the media coverage of the September 11 attacks in New York.

The Nazi uniform

Harry claims the current Prince and Princess of Wales encouraged him to wear a Nazi uniform to a party in 2005. It’s helpful for him to avoid responsibility. The Duke says the Prince and Princess giggled when they saw him in the costume, according to Page Six magazine.

Harry reportedly wrote that it was a decision between two suits—a pilot’s uniform or a Nazi uniform. I phoned Willy and Kate, asked them what they thought. Nazi uniform, they said, he wrote. They both screamed. Worse than the Willys leotard outfit! Much more ridiculous! Which, again, was the goal.

James Hewitt Paternity Matters

Harry reveals that the king once joked about whether he was really his father. It’s a bit awkward for an institution supposedly based on family ties.

Who knows if I’m really the Prince of Wales? Who knows if I’m even your real father? writes Harry, according to the New York Post, which also managed to get its hands on excerpts.

He laughed and laughed, though it was a remarkably unfunny joke, given the rumor circulating at the time that my real father was one of Mummys former lovers, Major James Hewitt.

Princess Diana had a five-year affair with Hewitt, a former cavalry officer, which has led to persistent speculation that he may be Harry’s father.

That’s when his neck warmed up and his eyes watered, he wrote. Harry does not describe the unnamed woman as a clairvoyant or a medium. He met her after trusted friends recommended her, saying he felt an energy around her. She is accused of telling the prince, you are living the life she wanted for you.

1.37 million profit per day from the NHS

Private mental health providers earned 1.37 million a day from the NHS in 2020-21, new figures show. Yet four out of ten services from leading providers are inadequate or need improvement for patient safety. The sums were criticized by Lorraine Shah, whose daughter Nadia, 16, took her own life at Elsyiums Potters Bar clinic in Hertfordshire. Lorraine said: It seems wrong that we are giving money to these private companies when they are failing our children. The Care Quality Commission found that the delivery of mental health services at 12 Elysium sites needed improvements for patient safety.

Four were insufficient and 27 good. Eighteen Priory hospitals needed improvement, four were inadequate, 25 were good and one was exceptional. Cygnet had four inadequate ratings, 19 needing improvement and 31 good.

150 years to make the bosses pay

A 999 ambulance call manager would have to work nearly 150 years to match the salary of an average chief executive, according to analysis of new figures. Research from think tank High Pay Center estimated that the average boss of a large company earns 3.41 million. That’s a 39% increase from a year ago. An experienced worker at the top of the 3NHS wage bracket is paid 23,177 a year.

Top bosses earn millions as NHS workers take pay cuts

The average FTSE 100 index CEO loot for 2023 exceeded the average annual salary of a full-time worker in Britain at 2pm last Thursday, after working around 30 hours. Last year, big bosses had to wait until the fourth working day of 2022 to exceed the average annual salary of workers, while this year they accomplished the feat in less than three days. The 999 call handlers were due to strike over pay along with other paramedics on Wednesday this week.

The multi-billionaire boss of gambling company Bet365 received an annual salary and dividends of more than 260 million. Denise Coates received a salary of 213 million in the year to March 2022, according to the latest company accounts released last week. This brings the total paid to Coates since 2016 to almost 1.5 billion.
