Alleged misappropriation of RM92.5bn of government funds is ‘fictitious’, says Muhyiddin

He disputed allegations that he ordered certain people to collect between 3 and 5% commission on RM92.5bil, which was to be deposited in the account of his BERSATU (Malaysian United Indigenous Party) party as an election fund. GE15.

“The commission of 3% and 5% of this tax expenditure is fictitious. How can I earn commissions? Will the 10.6 million people who received direct cash payouts give me a commission? Will the 2.96 million workers who received wage subsidies pay me a commission? Of course not.”

Muhyiddin, who is also the chairman of Perikatan National (PN), says the allegation against him is a “character assassination” tactic by Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN), as they are eager to see that ‘they are losing Malay voter support while the PN coalition won 62% of the Malaysian vote in GE15.

“This is a monstrous lie based on fabricated stories on fabricated stories. The embezzlement of RM92.5 billion is a fabrication,” he reiterated.

Muhyiddin: “never took a single sen that wasn’t mine”

“I am confident that MACC’s investigation will reveal that the allegation that there is RM4.5 billion in Bersatu’s account, or mine, is false.”

Muhyiddin was commenting on MACC’s arrest of a private company director last week (January 6) who is believed to be a proxy to secure a government-linked company (GLC) project worth more than one million RM four years ago,

The 47-year-old is believed to be one of BERSATU’s division chiefs who has close ties to Bersatu senior management.

He would have acted as an intermediary in the distribution of economic stimulus packages from 2020 to 2022.

On the allegation that PN has billions in funds and is able to spend lavishly on flags, clothing and merchandise during the GE15 campaign, Muhyiddin said the allegation is just fake news and spreading lies against BERSATU.

He explained that PN and BERSATU had printed flags and bulk goods two years earlier as a cost-cutting measure, which cost four times less than if they had printed near the general elections.

“That’s why Perikatan decided not to change its flag and logo used in GE15,” Muhyiddin added that PN had no funds to reprint new flags and other materials.
