Of course, the fans were delighted! Many thanked recently returned Disney CEO Bob Iger, though Parks & Resorts President Josh Damaro told The New York Times that Iger had nothing to do with the changes. I have a lot of face-to-face conversations with guests when I walk around the parks, and I’ve read a lot of their comments online, he said.

While some speculate The Walt Disney Company is aiming to top it off with Universal Orlando Resorts’ upcoming Epic Universe and new family-friendly theme park in Texas, Disney cast members suggest there’s something more nefarious behind the positive announcements.

This Monday, Iger revealed that hybrid Disney employees will be required to come into the office four days a week. The move was incredibly unpopular among cast members, who called the Disney CEO a disconnected old white man.

That same day, a union advised Disney cast members to reject a proposed $1.00 per hour raise offered by The Walt Disney Company. This comes after months of fruitless negotiations.

Big Customer Experience Changes by Iger and Josh. But that’s to disguise the absolute cluster that is the CM not in the company’s park that was released yesterday, said Disney Cast Member and Reddit user u/Mylifeforhire89. From the good chunk of non-park CMs I know, a lot of people are in disarray about returning to the office. A lot of people got kicked out of DLR and took jobs in Los Angeles and worked with because of the 2-3 days in the office. Now that it’s force 4, there are a lot of cast members who now have to weigh 1-1.5 hours to get to work because their roles were phased out at DLR during Covid and there’s a hiring freeze (or people from LA whose roles have been moved to Florida and now have to drive to Orange County every day).

u/SimmonsReqNDA4Sex called Iger a rich old man who doesn’t understand what the modern workforce needs:

Bob is better than the old bob, but it’s such a disconnected move. Real estate is so expensive. Spend the money on good software and managers who know which remote workers are performing well.

Disney is such a data-driven company that it makes no sense for them to do this. I guess companies just don’t understand that their employees in the office really only do what they can manage menial in a day and keep slacking off on the clock.

Did all those rich old dudes just invest in commercial real estate that can never go down in price? I think we’re going to see young CEOs and hiring managers wipe the floor of the profits with stubborn companies that have to justify their real estate costs. If people are working from home, they are literally offering businesses an office!

Not to mention, the park’s CM unions just released a statement telling members not to approve of Disney’s proposed new deal, u/TexasFordThough added.

Do you think the positive Disney park announcements were made to distract the public from The Walt Disney Company’s dismay?
